Funny cooking story:
I made Hungarian Goulash in the crockpost the first week I was married. The recipe said to thicken the goulash in the last half hour with cornstarch. I added the amount required, and after the half hour, it was still very thin. So I added more and more, and within an hour, my entire crockpot became a pot of Hungarian Cement.

While one time when I was trying to show one of my friends how to make fudge on the stove. I told her she can check to see if it is getting thick by putting a little of it in a cup of cold water to see if it forms a ball. But instead of doing that she poured the water in to the fudge and messed the fudge up. Yeah, she was blonde too.

When I was young, my grandmother made home made Christmas Puddings. The three of us would eagerly help her with grating, mixing, measuring etc.
Well, my little brother was grating carrots for her when we heard an awful noise and my brother had grated some of his finger into the bowl!!
We couldn’t find the wee bit of his finger so we just pretended that it didn’t happen and nobody knew any better; except for the 4 of us and it was our big secret! lol
thanks

One eve when my then fiance and I were cooking for friends, he removed an egg from the door of the refrigerator and tried to crack it repeatedly. When it just wouldn’t crack, he said there was something wrong with my eggs. Was his face red and did we laugh when I told him I kept the hard boiled eggs in the door, the fresh eggs were in their carton on the refrigerator shelf. #1

I make a yummy Cider pie that everyone just loves!
While babysitting my grandson one weekend, my husband invited our next door neighbor to have dinner with us. I asked Jack ( age 4) to say grace.
” Oh Lord” He prayed ” Please make this goat taste good. Amen.” Puzzled, I asked our pride and joy why he thought the pot roast was goat meat.
” Well, grampy SAID that he decided we’d have the old goat over for dinner tonight” Jack replied

One time I was making a pot of rice and left it on to cook. I got busy and forgot about it. It didn’t burn, but it wasn’t right. I served it and called it popcorn rice. It was over seven years ago, and my son still asks for the popcorn rice. Of course, I can’t repeat my mistake.

I love to make chocolate pumpkin cake.
My favorite recipe is homemade guacamole. It’s better than any restaurant’s, and so easy.
When I was 11, my mom had to have what we thought was an outpatient surgery. It ended up with her being in the hospital for 4 days. When she got home, I was her nurse and she told me she’d been craving our famous rice pudding the whole time she was in the hospital. I’d made it with her many times, so I told her I’d make it while she rested. This rice pudding cooks in a water bath for over an hour. Once it was finally done, I tasted it–and realized I’d forgotten the sugar!! Being the industrious little girl, I thought “I’ll just stir in the sugar the recipe called for” Remember, this had cooked in a water bath, with the rice on the bottom and a yummy custard topping. Stirring in sugar just doesn’t work! But alas, I tried. Taking my resulting creation to my mom, I tripped on the steps going upstairs to where she was resting, had the whole thing flop out onto the carpeted steps, and sat down and cried.
My wonderful mom? She laughed, called my dad, and asked him to bring some rice pudding from the grocery! I’ve never made that rice pudding again!

This story isn’t funny, but it was disastrous. A few weeks ago, I made brownies from a Betty Crocker mix and I kept them in the oven WAY too long. They turned out rock-hard, and it took me about half an hour just to scrape them out of the pan bit by bit. I had to keep putting the whole pan in the microwave at 20-second intervals just to soften the brownies enough so that I could cut them out! I think it had something to do with the fact that I used this weird powdered egg substitute instead of using real eggs. The brownies ended up tasting pretty good — they just couldn’t be cut with a fork.
