I truly watched the Super Bowl this year to see the commercials. One thing I can say – Budweiser spent a great deal of money on ads. But for me, the dogs did it for me. My absolute favorite featured a Great Dane who understands the value of a good bribe. That commercial was too funny.

Secondly, the overweight pooch who is inspired by the Volkswagen to shed extra pounds – so creative and heartfelt. How cute is it when he’s staring at himself in the mirror? Doritos really shined for me with their granny using the lil’ baby to snag the coveted chips from his bratty brother. Too cute.

I am a huge fan of the 1985 version of ‘Fright Night’ about a teenage boy who learns he is living next door to a vampire. Chris Sarandon played the seductive vampire and Charlie was played by… I have no clue (just kidding). He was played by William Ragsdale, but I had to look that up. I loved the old version of the movie. When I heard there was a remake of ‘Fright Night’ with Colin Farrell – I was ready for something good because Mr. Farrell rarely makes a bad movie….but sigh…this movie was a big disappointment for me. I’m embarrassed to have told everyone “I can’t wait to see the new Fright Night.”

The Lows

• For starters, this movie was extremely campy and ridiculously slapstick in some parts. You’d think Mr. Farrell would have made a sexy vampire, but I just wasn’t buying it.
• The makeup job on Colin Farrell was overkill – he didn’t look like a member of the undead…he looked like he had a fight with a container of baby powder. Plus, I did not see the point in using distorted demon, computer-animated special effects for some of the vampire transformations. Farrell would have looked much better as a regular ol’ vampire (a la True Blood style).
• For me, Anton Yeltzin was a distraction. All I kept thinking of when I saw him was his young character in ‘Hearts in Atlantis.’

The Highs

• For me, Christopher Mintz-Plasse really made the movie, (McLovin from ‘Superbad’). He provided much-needed comic relief.
• Toni Collette (from ‘United States of Tara’) looks really good in this movie – she’s aging well.
• There is a guest appearance from an actor from the original film, which was an amusing surprise.

I work at home, spending endless hours researching and writing for a living. The majority of “friends” that I have are people I’ve never met before. However, I’ve developed some of the richest connections through my online life that for me, is more fulfilling than going out on the town and throwing back a couple of martinis. I am constantly learning (a passion of mine) from bloggers all over the world. There are crafters that inspire me every day to explore my creativity. Pinterest is constantly pushing the envelope of procrastination, but I’ll never be at a loss for a future craft project or dessert recipe. I also really like sharing what I learn with people that actually listen.

My online life helps me save a lot of money. From daily deal sites to eBay to Craigslist, I also research my purchases – always looking for a cheaper approach, and I am certainly not against a gently used product. This method has allowed me to find my writing sanctuary for$30[shown], make Christmases and birthdays sentimentally spectacular, and eat for less (thank you Groupon, Restaurant.com, and Deal of the Day). I have not paid more than $5 per magazine subscription in years, which I also use to supplement the research for some writing assignments. Some are even free.

Just for using their search engine, Swagbucks helps provide items that under normal circumstances are financially out of reach (like the Wii).

Online, I also enter a lot of giveaways and contests. This in-my-spare-time activity is a true stress reliever. I love opening up the mailbox to find a ‘surprise’ that I did not have to pay for. I’d like to consider myself pretty lucky because my mailbox is constantly surprising me. My biggest wins include a Sodasteam, iPod Touch, and Amazon Kindle (with keyboard).

There is tons of flavored vodka on the market, but how many can you say actually taste like coconut, raspberry, citrus, or melon? I’ve had apple vodka that tastes like rubbing alcohol, Barcardi vodkas that are just too strong for me, and countless others that claim a range of fruity flavors. I have yet to taste flavored vodka that was fruity until…I tried two flavors from the Pucker line of vodka.

The Pucker Grape Gone Wild vodka really tastes like grape. The Pucker Citrus Squeeze vodka really tastes like an orangey tangerine. Other flavors include Cherry Tease (really want to try out) and Sour Apple Sass.

Yes, the vodka is still strong and offers 35% alcohol (or 70 proof), BUT I can at least enjoy a flavor – and that’s natural flavors, guys. I also saw a nice recipe for the grape Pucker and 7-Up in US Weekly magazine, which is right up my alley so there are plenty of possibilities to use this vodka for making creative drinks.

All in all, Pucker Vodka is a fun flavored drink with a bold taste that is especially pleasant for people that occasionally drink and tend to turn their noses up at the harshness of vodka without mixers.

Commercials…don’t they just put a damper on things? They interrupt your movies, TV shows…and your music stations. Yeah, I’m late joining Pinterest…and now I’m hooked. This is a much better and more convenient way to bookmark your interests and share your favorite things with others. Pinterest is a highly visual and interactive platform that according to their website “lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web.” People have used Pinterest to plan their wedding, show off their sense of style, and save inspiration for future art projects.

After setting up an account, you create a ‘board’ (main topic – like ‘Favorite Movies’) where you ‘pin’ images on the Internet to represent your interests. For example, an image of William Shakespeare could appear on a board titled ‘Favorite Authors.’ Pinterest also saves you the trouble of crediting a site for using their image on your board – they do it for you.
