Lean Cuisine Tortilla Crusted Fish
Posted on Monday, July 5th, 2010
I’ve never tried a microwave meal with fish before, so I’m curious to see if the Lean Cuisine Tortilla Crusted Fish will be soggy, crispy, tasty, dry or flavorful. The box describes the meal as a flaky fish recipe and rice with “poblano peppers and corn in a sour cream sauce.”
Lean Cuisine suggests cooking the meal in the microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds (or until the fish is flaky). The first round, the fish was soggy on top. 30 more seconds. Not ready yet. 45 more seconds. Another 1 minute. OK, 40 seconds more and that’s it. Finally, after a bit of trial and error, I sampled the meal. The rice is borderline spicy, which I like. The fish filet was surprisingly decent once it was finally cooked. After a bit of time, the sogginess disappeared and the crunch of the tortilla flakiness was revealed.
Final Verdict: The meal is passable overall. I liked the fish more than the rice, but I probably won’t purchase this option again. Correction…I know I won’t purchase this option again.
