Lean Gourmet Mega Breakfast Snackers

I like good deals and low-calorie meals, so when I saw Michelina’s Lean Gourmet Mega Breakfast Snackers at Walmart, I jumped at the chance to sample their convenient, low-calorie microwave meals for breakfast. My first impression was they were a tad on the smallish side. Round and small. They smell like bread and taste like uncooked scrambled eggs.
I really had high hopes for Michelina’s Lean Gourmet Mega Breakfast Snackers – a product so new – their website hasn’t been updated to include the Canadian Bacon and Sausage “snackers”. It’s hard to tell where the egg begins and the melted cheese ends. The gushy insides of the snackers are a real turnoff and in the back of my mind, I kept wondering if the eggs were cooked. The bits of bacon are drowning in the filling. They were barely detectable. The gooey, doughy bread is a distraction. After rereading the box, I learned that it’s supposed to be an oven-baked English muffin.
One Canadian Bacon Snacker is 170 calories (190 for the sausage). Place the snacker on a folded paper towel and microwave for 55 seconds. For me, the filling had burst through the bottom of the bread.
Michelina’s Lean Gourmet meals are not a poor brand – I am one of their biggest fans. From the Sante Fe Beans and Rice to the Buffalo Chicken Snackers, I have a handful of lunch and dinner favorites. Sadly, Michelina’s has missed the mark with their breakfast snackers. While I only paid $1.22 for a box of two, if you’re looking for a satisfying low-calorie breakfast item along the same lines– splurge on Lean Pockets.
