My Short-Term Goals for the Year

Posted on Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

2010goalsI’ve decided to list a handful of short-term goals for the summer and rest of the year. Hopefully, by seeing them on paper (or I should say, screen), I’ll have a better chance of sticking to them.  Plus, I will take pictures of my progress. They are:

1. Compete against my father to see who can grow the better garden. So far, I’ve done my research, and bought Brussels sprout and cilantro seedlings for $1 each. I’m aiming for an organic garden using eco-friendly products.

2. Grow a bonsai tree indoors –a species that curls up whenever you touch it – kinda like a Venus flytrap only it doesn’t eat bugs.  So far, I’ve bought the seeds and looked at them a million times.

3. Build a light box to take better pictures for my website because I’d like to avoid the wasted time of using Photoshop to remove shadows out of the images I take. A friend sent me this tutorial.

4. Make a baby quilt. @Killerella has motivated me to explore sewing and I want to create one from scratch. I want to cut out or make my own animal decorations. So far, I have brainstormed a theme and attempted to buy supplies this weekend, but was not successful in coming home with any.

5. Launch my Etsy (or Artfire) shop – depending on which one I believe will benefit me the most, although I absolutely love Etsy. So far, I have purchased a ton of supplies, have a journal with a million ideas and sketches, purchased my mailing labels, and have a name for the shop.

6. I completely forgot one of the most important goals. Get a driver’s license, which makes all of the above so much easier to accomplish. So far, I’m on my third learner’s permit and can take the written test with my eyes closed.

Question:What are your short-term goals for the summer or the year?  I’d love to hear them!

***If you answer this question, you’ll receive 3 extra entries to any of my current giveaways. Just leave 3 separate comments telling me that you answered the question. This offer lasts until July 31, 2010, so keep it in mind for future giveaways!

Oooh – great goals! Hmmm…I’d like to finish my 2nd novel (I’m halfway done.) In addition to that, I’d like to edit my first and polish it.

I also have a photo collage project I’m envisioning that I want to create for my dining room.

hmm, this is a short term goal and I hope to have it done by the time summer is over….cleaning and organizing everything I have in storage…..ugh :-) I think I may tackle it a bit each day so its not so overwhelming.

I have bought a pattern, so I must start sewing an outfit for one of my grandkidlets……..hopefully it won’t take so long that the wee one outgrows it before its made

I also need to go to the dentist………I always put that off, so by the end of summer I want to have that taken care of

    Thanks

CONGRATS on quitting smoking Christine – I know that is a really big goal. One of my lifetime goals is to run a marathon…ok…a 1/2 marathon is more realistic, but that’s a long way off. Good luck on the job hunting.

Another lifetime goal – to get published. Good luck Sam on your 2nd novel! Ooo – I can’t wait to see that photo collage project.

Awe @ grandkidlet! Good luck with the organizing. I’m due for a good purge soon. I don’t even want to tell you how many magazines I have here that I haven’t read.

Lisa, very doable goals! Good luck…one task at a time. I know when I clean out a closet – I love the feeling of having more space…even though it doesn’t last that long, but still, it feels good while it lasts!

My short term goal is to stop drinking so much diet soda and drink more water. I bought a filtered water pitcher and some new water bottles for incentive.

    @Janet F
Diet Pepsi is so refreshing on a hot summer day but water is so much better, so I know what you mean. Good luck! Water bottles definitely makes it easier to increase your intake.
