Pom Green Tea – Pomegranate Lychee
Posted on Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
This review appeared on my old blog, Doodle-a-Day Reviews, and before it went on hiatus, Pom Tea was gracious enough to send me 6 full bottles of their light Pom Tea flavors. Delicious, delicious, delicious! Each one offered a light, yet satisfying flavor without the guilt of sugar-laden calories. A real treat.
While on the hunt for tasty, low-calorie beverages, I came across Pom Tea Pomegranate Lychee Green and was curious as to just how a pomegranate green tea tastes. Pouring my first sample, I noticed a shade of light cranberry liquid dash into my glass. My taste buds soon encountered a tarty yet refreshing mixture of gently brewed green tea, pomegranate juice from concentrate, fructose, Pom Antioxidant Extract, and lychee juice from concentrate (all of which are the main ingredients listed on the bottle).
According to Pom, one serving provides “an ultra-potent, 100% pure polyphenol antioxidant extract” that comes from the same California pomegranates used to make their other product – Pom Wonderful. The beverage contains 70 calories per 8-ounce serving and for those watching their caffeine intake, the tea offers less than 3mg. All in all, I’d have to say that this is a pretty tasty drink.
Wondering what a lychee is? This tropical fruit tree is native to southern China and other Asian countries, producing a tasty fruit that is best eaten raw, but is also used to make drinks, canned fruit salads, etc. Some people eat the flesh of dried lychees in the same manner as you would a raisin.
Other Pom Tea flavors to consider: Hibiscus Light, Wildberry Light, Peach Passion, Blackberry, and Orange Blossom Light (a red tea mixture offering only 35 calories per serving).
