Smart Ones: Picante Chicken and Pasta

Posted on Saturday, February 27th, 2010

smartonespicantechickenFor a spicy, tasty meal – I recommend Weight Watchers Smart Ones: Picante Chicken and Pasta, which offers fiery-flavored white meat chicken chunks and bowtie pasta – thanks to an ancho chili sauce. Categorized as a “Bistro Selection,” the frozen dinner also provides yellow pepper strips and small pieces of tomato. Note: If you do not like spicy meals, Picante Chicken and Pasta is not for you. For me, the flavor hit me in the back of my throat, which is A-OK in my book.

What is Ancho Chili Sauce?

”Ancho chili sauce’ is basically a fancy way of referring to a basic red chili sauce that uses Ancho chilies, which are popular in Mexican dishes. If you’re interested in making your own, here’s a recipe.

Slowly eat Picante Chicken and Pasta to savor the spicy flavor and it can become your new low-calorie lunch favorite. The meal also delivers a decent supply of vitamin C, fiber, and protein.

Other Smart One selections I’ve tried that get two thumbs up include: Fiesta Quesadillas, Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas, and a couple of the Fruit Inspirations.
